Do clear leaves from ponds to maintain water quality, lawns to avoid disease and paths to prevent a slip hazard. These can be placed while damp in perforated bin bags to make nutritious leafmould for your plants. Avoid cutting back the dead leaves of perennial plants until spring, so insects can use the hollow stems to overwinter - any seedheads will look great and may attract birds, such as goldfinches.
