Let's Get Rewild: Plastic FreeThanks for being part of London, Let's Get Rewild. This week's theme was #PlasticFreeJuly and we urged people to avoid plastic in their gardens. We saw how your London garden could could improve on plastic grass; repurpose plastic to help wildlife; and swap plastic products for homemade compost, lollipop-stick plant labels, jute string and loo-roll seedling pots. 1 in 10 Britons have replaced their lawn with fake grass. Instead try other easy options, such as creeping thyme, clover, moss or a wildflower meadow. Single-use bottles harm wildlife through trapping, injury and microplastic pollution. Re-use any as a bird feeder, mini planter or drip-waterer for container plants. Plastic is all over our gardens, from the 500 million plant pots to labels, compost bags and string. Ease your conscience with natural alternatives made from wood, paper, jute and coir.
